What it is
A single-purpose browser extension. There is no account, no premium tier, no in-extension ads and no data collection. It weighs about 34 KB, is translated into 55 languages, and uses Chrome’s own picture-in-picture window rather than injecting a player of its own. The current version is 1.6, released October 4, 2026; see the changelog.
What it is not
- It is not a downloader, a DRM bypass or an ad blocker.
- It works on YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, Twitch and most video sites. The few services that restrict picture-in-picture on parts of their catalogue are listed honestly on supported sites.
- It does not run in the background. The code executes only when you click the icon.
Who builds it
Picture in Picture for Videos is developed and maintained by an independent team that also runs this website. We are listed on the Chrome Web Store as the owner of pipextension.com, and the store shows a clean record with no policy violations. We are not a registered trader; this is a free product kept alive because people find it useful.
Principles
- One click, nothing else. Every feature request is weighed against keeping the extension tiny and obvious.
- No data. We cannot see what you watch, and we never will. The privacy policy is four paragraphs because that is all there is to say.
- Say what works. Our guides and the supported-sites page describe failures as plainly as successes.
- Keep it current. A meaningful release at least every two months so the extension never looks abandoned.
Contact
Email [email protected] for support, bug reports or press. We reply to every message. If the extension helped you, a review on the Chrome Web Store is the most useful thing you can do; it is how other people find it.
